WHAT KIND OF BLACK MAGIC IS THIS????!!!!!!  Did I miss something?

The Richmond High Rollers trade Mariano Flores to the Cincinnati Red Stockings for Michael O’Connor and Jermaine Lawrence

On its face this seems like a fair trade.  Cincinnati acquires a high innings #3/4 starter for C level prospects (guys who will make the majors, but are not difference makers).  I’d rather be Cincinnati in this deal as Flores is the best player in it, but I can’t imagine Richmond had any better offers on the table as Flores is pretty replacement level and makes 4 mil.  Pre-arb Flores as a nice asset.  At 4 mil he’s fine, but his ability to eat innings is more important/valuable than anything Lawrence or O’Connor will ever do.

The Richmond High Rollers trade Bruce Markakis and cash to the Columbus Buckeyes for Daiki Jang and Yao-Hsung Fujiwara

Another terrific move for Columbus and this is why they are my number one rival. Markakis is a low innings high end set up A.  Only 28 and on low money he is one more stud out of the pen for the Buckeyes.  In return the High Rollers pick up a fringe set up B in Jang and a fringe mop up guy in Fujiwara.  In other words, really all Columbus got was about a million in cap relief.  Terrific move for Columbus.  I’m jealous.
