Around the League On Free Agency Day 2

While the Great Orlando Bidding War and Anticipation Of The Next HJ Trade are getting most of the conversation, other moves (shrewd and otherwise) are happening around the Winter Meetings.  A few of note:

Jair Gonzalez heads back to Jacksonville for 4 years, $37MM.  GM topoftheworl seems to be going all out to reunite the old gang in his WS quest.  Here's GM top on the Catalanatto deal and his plans:  "In terms of Vinny, I know my window is closing fast. I've got about two more seasons of being an elite team. Vinny is a superstar and the kind of guy that will give me the best chance possible. I'm going to have a train wreck in a few seasons, but I'll rebuild it myself. If I'm going to get to the WS it's gotta be soon."

The Fire Blitz kept up their retooling, replenishing their pitching ranks by acquiring RP Fausto Rodriguez from the Sparkies.  Santa Cruz gets back C prospect Ken Jay (Sea 28 #17), AAA 2B Steve Moses (Sea 24 #51) and ML SP/LR Kevin Hong (Sea23 #25).

Other Type A FA deals so far include OF Michael Palmer to Jackson for 3 years x $5MM; SP Lew Ellis to World Champ Las Vegas for 4 years x $15MM; 3B Wilkin Guerrero to Kansas City for 4 years, $32MM; MR Mark Martin to Huntington for 4 years, $32.2MM; and SP Juan Veras to Louisville for 3 years x $6.3MM.

Very little in the rumor mill about the potential destinations and contracts of the top remaining Type A's:  Jamey Brewington, Gary Person, and Joe Johnson.  Any rumors about these guys will go straight to print without any verification whatsoever!
